Welcome to the Mourne Mountain Marathon website
The next Mourne Mountain Marathon will be 21st – 22nd September 2019
The Mourne Mountain Marathon is Ireland’s only two day endurance and navigation event held each year in the beautiful mountains of Mourne in Northern Ireland. It is run entirely on a voluntary and non-profit basis by a team with many years experience of organising and competing in this type of event.

Event Reports – 2018
Harvey Map Draw Winners – Part Deux
Congratulations to the SECOND 5 winners of our Harvey map draw – Michelle Hetherington, Clive Coffey, Rónán Davison-Kernan, Eamonn Patton and David Orwin. The draw was made from the May, June and July entries (excluding previous winners and people connected with the organisers of the event). Thanks again to Harvey Mapping for donating 10 of their super Superwalker XT25s.
The previous winner were Chris Glass, Sarah McKay, Collwyn Brunton, Stephen Gray and Emma O’Gorman.
Event Centre Announced
For those of you wanting to book accommodation around the event, we are pleased to announce that our hosts this year will be Atticall GAC on the southern side of the Mournes. Camping will be available on the Friday night and the Mourne Lodge Hostel is just up the road. https://goo.gl/maps/pdagLYKyJsK2
Harvey Map Draw
Those very nice people at Harvey Maps have given us 10 of their new XT25 Mourne Maps to raffle amongst this year’s early entries. The XT series of maps are double sided, fully waterproof and very tough and lightweight whilst retaining the same clarity and detail of their standard Superwalker series maps. They are ideal for fast navigational events such as mountain marathons. If you don’t yet own a Harvey Mourne Map, the XT25 version is definitely the one to get.
We will draw 5 Teams at random from the entries up to 30th June and send out a map to each winning Team. We will do the same at the end of July for all entries up to 31st – including May and June. So the really early entries get 2 chances to win!!
N.B. Only one prize per team. If a winning team subsequently withdraws from the event the £12.95 RRP price of the map will be deducted from any entry fee refund so we can buy a replacement to pass to the next team in the draw. Alternatively the map may be returned to us if unused. Winners’ names will be published.
2018 Entries Open 12th May
Spring is upon us and the MMM team have sprung into life – scouring the Mournes for interesting places to camp and boggy places to run courses through. We have a bit of work to do to update the website and get SI Entries set up so we expect to open up shop in mid May.
We’re all done and dusted now for 2017. Of course, an event of this size doesn’t happen without a great deal of help from very, many people and I am sure you will join us in thanking them all. Please take 5 minutes to read the roll-of-honour on the Credits 2017 page to show your appreciation of their efforts.
Finally – we would like to like to say thank you to all our competitors and wish you the very best of hiking and running in the hills wherever you are over the next 12 months. See you next September.
